Compound Bow Question ( Mathews Outback )?

I recently received a Mathews Outback as a gift from my step dad and I couldnt find a release for it but it felt like the draw length was a little long. I bought a new release today and it goes about to my ear on the side of my face but I can see in the peep sight just fine.

It says 28" and 30" on the top cam but im not sure what its set on.

My question is if I wanted to go to 26" do I need a new cam or is that something a bow shop can do?

  1. New cam. Call mathews and they can get you what you need then have a bowshop put it in.

  2. Quite a knowledgeable bunch on here tonight. All gave good answers.

  3. Yes it can be adjusted with a new cam, and a busy bow shop may not even charge you much if at all for the cam, because they could use your cam for somone else.

Make sure yours is set for its shortest length, then shorten the release; most can be lengthened or shortened by a half inch.

    Good luck.

  4. you need a new cam

  5. go to a shop and have them check the draw length and put it at 28 if it's not already there. shorten your release only to the point that your comfortable with. if that doesn't work then you will have to change the cam

  6. Yes, you need a new cam.  Most bows can be adjusted about 2" (yours goes from 28-30") ... not a huge deal to get changed  but you need a bow press or need to take it to a shop.

  7. to go 26" you need to go with a different cam in order to shorten your draw length.
