Compressed air is leaking from Zanussi freezer?...

I have a Zanussi Fridge-freezer and I stupidly used a knife to take some ice off the inside of the freezer. There is a bad smell coming from the freezer now. I'd say it's compressed gas, as I cut (5mm) the lining in the freezer with a knife.Can this be fixed? and is it dangerous to be exposed to this gas????
