Compression issues on pontoon boat?

1993 Crest Pontoon, 40Hp outboard motor. What should the compression read on the tester gage?

  1. The difference between cylinders is more important than raw numbers.  If the lowest is within 7 percent or so of the highest, call it good.  7 to 12 percent or so, I'd do a decarb to try & recover some lost compression.  Any more than that or decarb doesn't help, pull the head to assess the damage.

  2. with out knowing the model-it's hard to say but 100# to 140# just so long as they are all the same.
