Compromise on global warming?

First, I don't believe that man made global warming is a big of a threat as people make it out to be. I strongly believe it is part of a cycle, remember just a few years ago, the story was that the earth was going through global cooling. However, I am going to steal a line from McCain, if the liberals are wrong, who cares? We leave the earth a little cleaner for the next generation. So, instead of harping on whats at fault for global warming, why don't we all work on practical ways of helping the environment...Maybe we don't need regulations conservatives, Big government is bad, but we need to motivate peple to help the environment, and I think that is something that liberals and conservatives can agree on, global warming put aside, just a cleaner world in general should be motivation enough. Agree or disagree?

  1. Makes sense to me.

Changing the content of the atmosphere is probably something we should avoid, even if the effects of CO2 are being overstated.  Being a little more energy efficient is something that makes sense economically as well.

I don't like these doomsday, tipping point claims that people make but can't back up.  I also don't like the way researchers are approaching global warming as something they need to  prove rather than something to be researched with an open mind.

  2. Sure, that seems reasonable.  All I would say about the global warming thing is, fault doesn't matter, but facts do.  if we don't want it hotter, wetter, whatever (and any measurable change will affect someone), then we need to think about what we can do to keep things like they are.

personally, I don't doubt that there IS global warming, but I think humankind is only ONE of the causes, and frankly, the only one we can do anything about.

    Fair enough?

  3. global warming has to be proven because people believe if it came from a democrat its not true, or maybe they're just in deep denial.  Either way I believe it.
