Question:

Computer Hard Drive Question?

by  |  earlier

My computer has 2 hard drives, one serves as a slave. Anyway, my dad, in his infinite wisdom, decided to use some utility that made the slave drive show up as a "virtual C drive" inside the C drive. In other words, he disguised my drive as a folder.

And he doesn't remember how he did it.

So does anyone know how to undo this? I want my drive back... it was pretty...

  1. Are you running Windows 2000, XP or Vista?  If so, you don't need any third party tools to mount a drive under a folder.

To fix in the aforementioned OS's, do the following:

    Start Menu

Right click My Computer (or Computer in Vista)

    Left click Manage

On the left, choose Storage > Disk Management

Right click the volume that you want to re-assign

Left click Change drive letter and paths

Click add or change to assign a drive letter or path to empty NTFS folder.

    That's it!

  2. You can undo any action by the System Restore facility. I guess your dad has done this by simply renaming the drive.Try the system Restore and then you will get both the drives back.

  3. One point:

Un - Install the software ur dad used on ur machine once u have reassigned ur partition.
