Computer Help! Please-Computer Freezes When I Shut down??

Okay, I close everything down, and then I go to Start, & click shut down, then that little window appears with the options of turn off, restart, & stand by. So I click Turn off, & once i do that, it goes to the shutting down screen-"Windows is logging off..."-like that. But then 5 second later, instead of turning off, it goes back to my desktop. Then I wait 15 more seconds & A "End Program Now" window appears with the progress bars for 1.5 seconds then dissapears. & then after all that my pc just freezes, everything is frozen, even ctrl alt dlte. Does Someone know what to Do?? Is it a registry problem? Should I try ccleaner, what?? I have to hold down the power button in the end to turn it off. So Any one????

Thanks

  1. it seems that your computer has too much errors and viruses,

im a PC tech so i can pretty much help you out

turn off your computer by pressing tha shutdown button,

then enter in safe mode then scan for viruses, and also check for errors by going to my computer, right cliking on your hard drive, then clicking properties then cliking on tools and choosing ''check volume for errors'' and choosing to fix it automaticly,

then also id recomend to clean out your registry with ccleaner and defragment your PC,

    that should help, if not

then id recomend you to repair windows, (same way as if you was gonna reinstal windows)

    good luck

  2. It is probably a process that is keeping your computer from shutting down. Press ctrl+alt+delete (Which opens Task Manager), and click the Processes tab. Now go through these by clicking one, ending it, and then trying to shut down. Be sure to remember the last one you tried before shutting down. When your computer shuts down normally then you know the last process you ended was holding it up. Find it on your computer and uninstall or disable the application the process belonged to.

  3. Windows occasionally does a little 'housecleaning' on itself and it takes a little time...especially if you've been forcing a shutdown with the power button.

Try a normal shutdown one time by just walking away from it for 20-30 minutes...& let the system solve it's own shutdown issues.

If that does the trick, get into the habit of "Hibernating" as opposed to "Turn Off" from the options.

This 'Hibernate' must be enabled from the Power Options: On a blank desktop spot, right click >  properties > screen saver > power ... > hibernate > check 'enable'

To show this option the 'shift' key must be held down after 'turn off' has been clicked.

This shutdown condition saves all your active (RAM) programs, into the hard drive (so you don't loose any work), plus Windows is all ready up and running, thus saving gobs of time to get back to work.
