Question

So like my comp is heck slow. 8kb/s doesn't seem like a lot.

Aside from buying stuff, what can i do to make my comp run faster?

Also if 2 comps share the same internet connection via wireless router, does making one comp faster also make the other one run faster?

Hope this helps. Try doing the procedures to make your computer faster.

1. Open Start menu, then Accessories, choose System tools, choose Disk Cleanup, that will allow you to remove unwanted memory stored in your disk c or e, making your computer work faster.

2. Using the same procedure, go to System Tools, then click on the Disk Defragmenter. Do this  if your disk is becoming confined.

3. Clear your Recycle Bin.

4.Upgrade your computer's systems such as memory.

5. Buy a better microprocessor at least dual core or higher.

6. Open Start menu> Run> type msconfig>choose Startup then unmark applications in there that you don't need at startup except of course your Antivirus. This will make your computer faster at startup.

7. Scan your computer with an antivirus.

8. Go to My Computer then right click drive C> Properties> Tools> Check System for Errors, check "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" then OK. Be patient on this process. Don't choose automatically fix.

9. Open Start menu,choose Run, type gpedit.msc, click OK, open Administrative Templates, then click at Network >Qos Packet Scheduler> LImit Reservable Bandwidth> mark " Enabled" and on the text box erase 20 then type 0- hit" Apply"- then click OK, reboot the computer. (Works on Windows XP Professional) ( requires administrative rights)

10. Use a registry cleaner such as CCleaner.

11. Its normal I think for the router. When you have 2 computers sharing the same connection with a router then the bandwidth will be shared. That will slow the connection.

well if your purely talking about internet connection speed, and im guessing that '8kb/s' is using limewire or utorrent or something. since youre using a router, you may need to forward the port you are using if it is for a torrent program. try this site :

you will need to know your router model number, and you will have to know a bit about general computing. however, its a pretty good guide

yo can take off some of the items on your desktop, you also might have a virus u should get free avg it works reat dont trust norton.

are you talking about the internet?

router is not going to make the computer faster, it is just a machine that can share the internet to two or more computers.

It either your internet services just slow, or your computer have some program that make the internet slow, like antivirus program.

I think the best way is to format the computer, and when start over again, just be careful when you download different programs.
