  1. Maybe you connected it to the router, not the modem. Or, you might have put the wrong plug in the wrong hole

  2. You have not provided enough information for anyone to provide proper answers.

You do not indicate if you even have a router so we are really guessing.

I suggest that you remove the router from the circuit if you have a router that is separate from your Internet feed.

Plug in ONE pc only to the modem's Internet feed using a straight CAT5 patch cable.  I presume you have a dynamic public IP.  Set your pc LAN port to obtain IP and DNS address automatically.  Power down modem and pc.  After at least 0.5 min turn on the modem; at least 0.5 min after that turn on the pc and let it warm up.  Check for private IP address by opening command prompt (start, run - type cmd and hit enter).  At the > prompt in command prompt type in "ipconfig /all" without quotes and hit enter.  You should have a LAN IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS addresses.  If the LAN IP address starts with 169.x*x.x*x.x*x you have a problem with the modem or the LAN port config of the pc - fix these.  You are most likely to see a LAN IP address of 192.168.x.y where x is usually 0 or 1 and subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 if all is proper.   If this is not the case you must address this failure.

If all is proper, enter in command prompt, "ping 4.2.2.2" without quotes and hit enter.  You should receive 4 replies; if not you have a problem with the modem and internet connection that needs to be fixed.

If all is proper, enter in command prompt, "ping yahoo.com" without quotes.  You should receive 4 replies; if not you have a DNS problem that needs to be fixed.

If all is proper, Internet should work.

Now power down everything, insert router, make sure it is properly configured and fire things up.  All should work; if not do the ping tests above and correct whatever fails.  If you need specific help, write again with the specific results from ping tests and tell us how you are wired.

The above is needed to isolate the problem and fix it.

  3. As you are on the Internet, one assumes that it is cured, however, I had the same problem and it was the fault of the telephone company, my broadband was not connected, OR there is a cable fault between the computer and the modem.

  4. try reinstalling your motherboard.
