before i get started.... my computer is:

HP DV6449us

- 7GB RAM

140 HD

(4gb ram +3.4GB ReadyBoost cache)

802.11g BroadCom wireless adapter

The problem is my wireless isnt 100% compatible with my adapter... so its in a constant flux between connected and not

and always having TCP/IP issues i did that the company said and it got worse... and when i tried called HP and netgearr (router company) they kept blaming the other company for the issues (hp "its your wireless router contact netgear")

(netgear " its the wireless on laptop contact HP")

its not router

its working fine for my IBM/Gateway/Mac and other HP desktop...

  1. get a linksys router i have never had a problem with cisco products but reguardless there shouldn't be such an issue but i take it you have had the router to long to return it. you really don't have any information that will help to figure out a solution though.

  2. Go on to the router settings (type in on Internet explorer: 192.168.0.1) go to the wireless section make sure everything is set how it should be. try a different channel for the wireless. (range from 6-11 i think, not sure)

Sometimes the issue is not the router or the wireless card (as long as they are both the same frequency there shouldn't be a problem) It could be that there are other interferences such as another wireless network on the same channel, microwave, mobile phones... ect.

Hopefully all should be good now. I recommend changing the channel of your wireless router.

  3. It could be a range of things:

    1) are there any other local area networks? Certain computers try to intercept other lines so that the flux between connections is just your computer trying to identify each network. Not all computers do this but there are some that are sensitive to others lines. If it is, you might have to block the other lines.

    2) If you happen to be intercepting other lines that aren't open but can still be detected, those other lines may be what it shifting your computer from TCP/IP to others like "CChP...." or whatever the other one is. Sorry, i don't remember what exactly it is. This has happened to mine in the past before I blocked them.

    3) What was the main computer that was originally hooked up to your wireless? There may be a security or protective option on the original computer that is keeping the other one from holding the connection. Kind of like when it's connected, the main computer is detecting a foreign source & boots you off. Double check your security settings.

    4) You may need to approve your computer through the original. Whenever my friends use my wireless, I can give them my password but i still have to authorize it through my own computer in order for them to connect. Just the password would not suffice.

if none of these are the solution, I am sorry for wasting your time but good luck in finding the answer!

  4. well if its not your router then its wireless

    ?

    i dont no really sorry

    depending on the LAN

  5. move the computer next to the wireless router. See if the problem gets better. You could just be too far away for the signal to get through clearly.
