Computer Problem!!?

My brother uses the pc in our house (my mum and I have laptops) but he seems to have deleted the internet connection or something, there are no options to connect or to make a new connection, what on earth is going on? how do we fix this?

  1. Start>control panel>network connections. Look to the left and select "create a new connection" and at the bottom select "wireless networks within range". Connect to one, and if you don't have one, create one. {XP}


  2. well, it would help if you told us the version of Windows the computers are using, and are all the computers not able to get online or just his?  if it's windows XP, you can do a "System Restore" and restore the computer to a date before the issues started happening.  To do a system restore, do the following:

    1. Click on Start

    2. Click on Run

    3. Type: msconfig

    4. Click OK

    5. Click where it says "System Restore" and follow the on-screen instructions

  3. Well if your latops have wifi or if you get a wifi card you could do a wireless network. Set it up on a computer and have the internet connection running on it and just broadcast it throughout your house.

  4. question is if you have dial up or highspeed connection. either way, you will need to create a new connection. by the way, your brother might have deleted it, so you might want to check the recycle bin. if its still there, just restore it.

    here's how to create a new connection:

    1) start

    2) control panel

    3) network connections

    4) File

    5) new connection, click NEXT

    6) choose: connect to the internet, click NEXT

    7) choose: set up my connection manually, click NEXT

    if it is a dial up connection:

    a) choose connect using a dial up modem, NEXT

    b) select the modem you are using, NEXT

    c) type in any name or your ISP, NEXT

    d) type your access number, NEXT

    e) type your username, password in the spaces provided for

    f) put a check on the two boxes, NEXT

    g) put a check on the box, click FINISH

    if it is a broadband connection:

    a) choose: connect using a broadband connection that is always on (3rd option), NEXT

    b) click FINISH

    c) go back to control panel, open internet options

    d) click on the connection tab

    e) near the bottom, click on the button that says LAN SETTINGS

    f) put a check on the box that says: automatically detect settings, click OK

    e) click on apply, then OK

    f) connect your computer to the highspeed modem

    g) open a browser and browse
