Computer Randomly Shutting Down/ Monitor Goes Black.?

Question

Ok, my computer monitor will go black randomly, there is a clicking noise simalar to when the computer will shut down right before it "crashes". But the computer doesnt shut down because the monitor and the tower buttons are still blue. Could someone please explain to me what is going on with my computer and if there is a way to fix it without haveing to buy a new one or hire a professional. And please make it in freshman in highschool language, im not very tech'y.

There are many possibilities. How do you get it started back up? One thing to look for is overheating, but that usually shuts off the computer completely. Do you have a noisy fan? Or is it a laptop? If laptop do you have it on a surface that allows air to circulate? Putting a laptop on a bed is a bad idea because air won't circulate.

Sounds like your hard drive is dying.

Back up the machine immediately, and get a new drive to restore onto.

If the computer itself is still running then I would say your monitor is lose in the back of the computer. If the computer itself is shutting down randomly it could be a number of things. Bad motherboard or just virus, trojan, or glitch in your windows software. Try checking all of your connections first. Make sure your monitor and pc have the power cords securely attached as well as the monitor tightened into the video card, it should be the only port on the back of the computer it will fit in to. Might not be a bad idea to download Avast antivirus software from their website. Once you install avast it will ask if it can run a virus scan on bootup, select yes. It will scan your pc before windows actually boots up catching any viruses or trojans installed in the registry keys or bootup sequence. All else fails, have a computer savvy friend format your hard drive and reinstall windows.
