In November 2007 I bought a custom PC. The company i bought from are basically pathetic. So no mentioning asking them. I have just bought a new Case for my computer. 22Cm + 12cm (X2) Fans. Im 100% sure this is NOT overheating. Whenever i go to play games. Like Crysis, COD4, TF2, BF2. After around 10-30 mins ingame. My computer compleatly shuts down.

The graphics card is fine. I have tested this on other computers. Motherboards fine. The only thing i havnt checked is my Powersupply. Its currently 400wt. Should i upgrade this concidering my rig is pretty powerful. And what should i upgrade to, And how much should i pay for a good powersupply (GB£).

Many thanks.

  1. power supply problem

  2. Yes it could be that your power supply needs to be upgraded, but my 400w works fine. If it's a generic brand of PSU that you've had for more than 6 months, then it's very likely it's failing. That means your PSU will be cutting off your computer causing it to reboot. It doesn't sound like in the serious stages yet though, when it gets progressively worse you'll see that sometimes it won't even start up or the screen will freeze. Generally though my problems with power supplies have all resulted in freezes not reboots by the computer so perhaps you do need an upgrade. Is you have any questions just ask.

Note: I play latest games such as Crysis with ease on my 400w, a 600w is definitely unneeded, lol.

  3. You need atleast a 600W for your game to be stable
