Computer Sound Problem: Sound is too low, how can I fix this?

I have windows XP installed and the computer is a IBM NetVista. The sound use to work fine. Now the I can barely hear the music throught the headphones. I have even went to Volume control and raised all the bars to high. Please help.

  1. You can either raise the volume in the program you are using for music, the sound icon in your toolbar, in your speaker, if your earphones run through the speakers, and sometimes in the earphones when they have volume control, check all


  2. Try unplugging and replugging the headphones; the connection may be loose.

    Try a different pair of headphones or speakers; something may be wrong with the headphones.

    If that doesn't work, try configuring your sound card to use a different output plug and use that plug.  Or, if your computer has headphone output both in the front and the back, try both.

  3. Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices

    When you get to the sound page, drag the slider all the way to the right.

    Click on Advanced and make sure "Wave" is turned all the way up.


  4. Check if the speakers are plugged in all the way.
