k ... i have a question for any1 that is genious with computers. I recently found out that if u intend in upgrading ur computer's graphics card, or hard drives u have to stay in the computer's power supply limit. My computers power supply is 300 w ... the technician i spoke to said the most i could update my Nvidia GeForce 6150 SE graphics card to is The 6300 version. HOW LAME!

So my question is: Is there a way to update my computers power supply without bying a whole new computer? And is it extremely expensive?

Here are my computer's specs.

-300 w power supply

-4096 MB RAM (4 GB)

-500 GB hard drive

-AMD Phenom X3 8400 Triple-Core Processor

-Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit edition ... Service Pack 1

-Nvidia GeForce 6150 SE graphics card

  3. Yes, just go buy a new power supply, it doesn't cost that much. Shouldn't be more than 60 bucks for a decent one.

  4. Yes, you can go the a 450 W and that'll do...

If all that you are doing is upgrading a vid card, a new power supply shouldn't be needed...

  5. no no, the psu is not that expensive to upgrade, its just one component in your computer. on average a 750 watt psu is 130.00-150.00 and so on. that amount should allow you to further upgrade your gfx card.

  6. make sure the psu fits the case and the rails fit. then it doesnt matter how many watts, basically all power supplies are the same size for 500 watts too 1000 watts
