Computer Windows XP Help! Please Help!!!?

Question

I have A Windows XP Flatscreen computer (bouught in 2005) and i am having a problem with putting discs in. Whenever i put a disc in, mothing comes up. So I go to My Computer and to DVD Drive but when i click on it, it says acsess denied(it doesnt do that on my other user accounts) how do i get it to unlock?????!!!

the account IS a computer administrator!!

possibly the disk is bad, or the actual drive is beginning to fail... cd / dvd drives usually only have a life span of 2 - 3 years.  if this does not work, there might be an application (or even a virus) locking the drive
