Computer cant boot from hard drive?

whenever i try to start the computer it said i have to boot from cd do i have to?

you have to, it sounds like your os has been deleted. When you boot from cd they will ask you if you want to format the partition. You can if you want to run a different os on the other partition.

When you turn your computer on, and starts to boot, press F8, and try each of those options.  

That's what I did when my computer froze up, it took some time, but it repaired my computer.

Go into BIOS and see if the hard drive shows up
