Computer can't capture

Question

I recently bought a JVC camcorder GR-D824EK. I think it is the Currys exclusive version of the D820EK. I added a PCMCIA card to my laptop so I could use the camcorder in conjunction. Device manager lists the PCMCIA and the camcorder so they are both recognised, but when I try to capture in any programme it always comes up with an error saying something like "failed to create preview graph". (that's one example from Ulead). Do I need an extra driver?
