  1. Well its not an either/or sort of a Qn... If you do not have a processor, the system won't boot, if yu have no RAM, the system won't boot.

If yu have a slower processor, it doesn't matter if you put 4 GB RAM, the processing will still be slower as compared to a newer processor (& Hence faster one) with even 1 GB of RAM. Similarly The fastest of the processors with Quad cre processorwill be slow with lesser RAM.

To have a good computer you need to mix & match the RAM & Processor package. If money is not a problem, then go for most RAM yoour system can support with Quad core processors, HDD in TB (not oh so 2007 GB's), a good Graphics Card & something solid like Linux or XP/Vista..

  2. RAM(Random Access Memory)

It helps computer to run faster when you use multiple applications simultaneously. RAM actually is a temporary memory, so if u have more temporary memory, u can work on many applications very fastly.

Processor - It's the actual caculating device , maximum speed of your computer depends on the Processor you are working on.

My answer would be, RAM is actually set in the PC based upon ur processor. U cannot set 2 GB RAM for very pentium 3 processors.

  3. "BOTH R IMPORTANT" If you do not have a processor, the system , if u have no "RAM", the system would not boot

If u have a slower processor, it doesn't matter if you put 2 GB RAM, the processing will still be slower as compared to a newer processor (& Hence faster one) with even 1 GB of RAM. Similarly The fastest of the processors with Quad cre processor will be slow with lesser RAM.

"Random access memory" (usually known by its , RAM) is a type of computer data storage.Today it takes the form of integrated circuits that allow the stored data to be accessed in any order, i.e. at random.

A Central Processing Unit (CPU), or sometimes just called "PROCESSOR" is a description of a class of logic machines that can execute computer programs.

A processor is the logic circuitry that responds to and processes the basic instructions that drive a computer.

  4. The computer depends on both. For the smothest computing, make sure the RAM frequency is the same as the CPU's Front Side Bus (FSB).

  5. processor is to run programs, and processor is to run smoother.

  6. its ram on which computer mainly depends

  7. the speed & usage depends on both

  8. Both the processor and the ram are very important components. Imagine your brain to be the processor that it thinks and can compute operations very quickly. If somebody were to ask you a very long question, you have limited memory (or ram) and would probably forget parts of the question before you could even begin processing it.

If you upgrade your ram it's similar to then having a piece of paper where you can write things down very quickly and have lots of information to look at during any given time. Inevitably, this will also cause your computation to speed up.

Hopefully I didn't botch my example.
