Question:

Computer does not power on?

This morning the computer was on, running fine. It was not shut down. Later on in the day, the lights in the hallway dimmed and blinked a few times. I remembered the computer was on and went to unplug it. Before I unplugged it, it was in standby, the power light was blinking as it always does.

Now i try to turn the computer on, and the power light doesn't come on. The hard drive and the BIOS doesnt boot. I know this because nothing comes on the screen. Not even the HP logo. I hear the fan coming out, but it is very loud. Both my CD Drives turn on because I can eject them. Nothing else in the computer powers on. What is wrong? Is my motherboard fried?

Here is my system:

HP Pavilion a1102n

Windows XP SP3

1.5 GB RAM

2.93 GHz

256MB Nvidia GeForce FX 5200

my email is nfsfreak19@yahoo.com

  1. Uh, just reset your mother board. For instructions, check the site of the manufacturer. There was a hurricane in Florida, where you are from, so the wind might have caused some power drops and such, and you will have to reset it to make it work again. Next time, don't leave your computer on in the middle of a hurricane.

  2. im not sure if it will work for you but ive had that problem before and all I had to do was reset the ram in the computer to do this you unplug your computer open the case and you will see one or more green board sticks plugged into the board  make sure you touch part case before you touch them so you ground yourself your going to want to press the lever at the end of each side to pop it out and then you line it up and push it back in still you here it click in once you have done it to all the sticks put the case back together plug it back in and try to turn it on i know it sounds pointless but it does work if it is that problem

  3. Is your monitor on and connected? Otherwise, something might have fried.
