  1. What windows do you have?

Firewire driver/support is BUILD-IN into both Windows XP and Vista. You do not need any drivers (actually, they do not even exist for download). Normally, when you connect cam via Firewire and turn it on, you will see it as one of possible videosources in your capturing software (which might be Windows Media Maker (=part of every windows) or any other software you've installed) .

I'm guessing, your computer does recognize it, but you might be looking in the wrong place.

The camera WILL NOT show in "my computer" as another disc drive. For that you would have to have Hard drive camera OR be recording on SD card.. and connect it via USB.

miniDV cams must be connected via firewire and they are visible ONLY in capturing software. The file from tape cannot be copied (unlike a file from hard drive or SD card), the file must be played on cam and CAPTURED in real time on computer (=one hour tape will take one hour to capture into computer)

    Hope it helped
