My dads HP a000 desktop pc recently had a lead in its 24 pin power connector go bad. So i had to remove the motherboard because the PSU was too tight of a fit. We now have an antec 450 watt ATX power supply instead of the 300 watt. I reconnected all of the cables (correctly, they only have one spot to go) so everythign is like it was, except for the new power supply. Now, the fans run on high(all of them) there is no video and the sata hard drive is constantly seeking. Any ideas? need more info lemme know. thanks in advance.

  1. From the Computer Tech:

Please tell me you had a ground strap on when you changed out the supply?  Motherboards are very dangerous to static electricity.  I am sorry to tell you by the sounds of it either the original PS burn out something or unfortunately if you were working on carpet or near you may have killed the mother board.  A ground strap is a must when working inside a computer.

Check that the video card is seated properly and not popped out.

Hope this helps, put in more info if you have it, why or what happened to cause the lead to go bad?

    Thanks
