Computer game. I just bought medieval II total war and medieval II total war kingdoms gold edition

I just bought medieval II total war and medieval II total war kingdoms gold edition and its not letting me play after i install it. I had put in the 1st cd and I got an error that said can not launch.net framework and then after I clicked ok another error came up and said can not launch direct x9.setup. Im not sure what these two are. Please help.
