We installed an updated Norton Internet Security and now it takes about 15 to 20 minutes for the computer to load up or to go to a new page. What happened?

  1. That can sometimes happen when you install a large program onto your computer. Personally, it has never happened to me but I suggest turning off your computer for a while, maybe 15 minutes, and then turning it back on. If that doesn't work your Norton system could just be scanning your computer for viruses. From personal experience that can sometimes take up to 30, so your computer will run slow until it is done scanning. If you still have the problem after 30 minutes or so refer to troubleshooting in the Norton manual.

  2. Norton can cause more problems then it cures.  Try opening the Norton program and turn off all of the background scans.

  3. did you have another anti-virus program before nortan?  If you didn't uninstall it properly they might be fighting.

If you system doesn't not meet the recommend specs for the new software you installed that could be the problem.

If you haven't already, reboot your computer and see if the problem persists.

If neither of those are the case you could try uninstalling Norton then installing it again.

  4. hi you probaby have another application trying to load/connect to the web that good old Norton is blocking, type msconfig to find out whats loading on startup and then add to the norton allowed group

  5. Norton is a massive resource hog :(

If you are low on RAM (512meg or less) then that is what happens with Norton installed :(
