When I open any program that has a drop down menu (like the search bar in Explorer, for instance), the thing goes crazy, opening and closing constantly by itself. I am going crazy because I can't fix it. Can someone offer some help? I have run some spyware programs without finding anything major. Please help!

  1. Sounds like spyware or a virus registering the data from what you've done from various programs that have options from pull down menus.

  4. Your best bet is to restore your computer settings through the control panel (if you don't mind losing all your recent dowloads and saved files).  After that, try using different spyware programs.  The best ones to get are BitDefender and Kapersky Antivirus because they both update their virus definitions hourly.  However, it might not be caused by malware. If you are clicking on the drop down menu repeatedly because your computer is running slow, it might open and close constantly like you said it was doing.  Try freeing up some disk space by using the Disk Cleanup tool and/or the Disk Defragmenter tool (both are found by clicking start>all programs>accessories>system tools)
