I have an old laptop and it runs win 2000 pro. Does it matter how old the computer is to whether or not it will uprade to win xp pro or does it have to be a certain year model for it ro run win xp pro?

  1. XP pro will have requirements such as the amount of ram and speed of your chip.  If you are buying it , it will say what the minimum requirements are needed to run it.


  2. Microsoft has software that you can run to determine if your computer can run XP. It is called upgrade adviser. Looks like MS has only the software to check to see if your PC is Vista ready at this time. However, check this web site and I think you can download the XP upgrade adviser there.

  3. I have a Dell 366 MHZ with 128 Meg of ram running XP pro, not fast but runs OK, I will add another 128 Meg of ram and it will run fine because I have one running with 256
