Hello, I know this is a bit of a rubbish question, but I am havind trouble with space on my D hard drive and there is free space on my C drive. I don't want to lose any of my files but I was wondering if I could transfer some files from D to C or would that risk messing up my computer/files. Is there some sort of different processes that it goes through or can I use it just like my D drive? Thank you everyone, in advance. :)

  1. make sure first that your D drive is also a hard disk drive. on some computers, this may be the cd rom drive. if it is indeed another hard disk or a partition of your hard disk, then you can just transfer files into it with no worries.

  2. In most new computers the "D" drive is not an actual second physical drive.  It is instead and partition on the "C" drive that contains your Restore Data.  This data is used to Restore your computer back to factory specs in case of a major crash.  It is never a good idea to use this partition for any purpose other then storing the data that came on it.

Also, your should burn this partition to a set of CD's or a DVD.  If you do not burn this data to an external media, you will not be able to Restore your system if it crashes.

  3. C drive is for backing-up your personal files, you can drag and drop or copy and paste your files into it.

  4. No, you have 2 drives because you have 2 hard disks and you can move files wthout problems. You won't loose data! Bye!

  5. Open one drive in My Computer. Reduce it to half screen size. Go back to my computer and open the other drive. From there it's just drag and drop! ;-)=

  6. as above but don't move the windows folder, drivers, or i386  in c:drive
