Computer help???

I have 2 laptops with windows vista both with wireless and Ethernet ports I only have one Ethernet port to plug up to only one laptop is there anyway I can connect the computers together so I can share the Internet connection with the one that is connected I know I can buy a hub but I don't want to

  1. You need a router


  2. Use a mixed wireless and wired router like everyone else said.  However, a switch will work too.  The router will have a build in firewall and give you wireless access where the switch will only give you more ports.

  3. Buy a router (not a hub) and save yourself the trouble.

  4. The others are right.  Skip the hub (if you can even find one) and go for a router.  They are in the 50-100USD range.  That will make things easier.

    If you cant afford a router, your take gets much more complex.  You could use laptop1 to connect to the internet then do an adhoc wireless network and allow internet connection sharing on laptop1.  Ive never done it myself because it is complex and would require that laptop1 be turned on in order for laptop2 to use the internet.  Save your pennies and buy a router.
