i want my compter can type chinese characters how do you do that?

can you download it just for free?

  1. Choose from Start menu > Settings and Control Panel

    From Control Panel choose Keyboard

    Choose Input locales -tab

    If Enable indicator on taskbar isn't checked, check it

    Click Add -button. Choose Input locale Chinese (PRC) and Keyboard layout MS-PinYin98 (selecting only Chinese (Simplified) - US Keyboard isn't enough!). Click OK

    Click OK. Now you can start word processing program.

    Input language can be changed from right bottom corner language-icon (normally white letter FI on a blue background indicating finnish keyboard has been selected) by pressing left button of the mouse.

    Language can be changed also by pressing Alt -key and left Shift -key from keyboard. Notice, that at the computers at computer labs' is installed many language inputs so it may take a while before you get the one you want.
