Computer issue.. won't auto-run or install games Sims 2?

So I have had this dell dimension 4700 for like 2 years.

I had the Sims 2 and almost all the expansions but I left the house for about a year and it got uninstalled....

Then all kinds of crazy things got instaled because anyone was allowed on the computer.

NOW

Whenever you put in a DVD or game it wont auto-run...

I tried to reinstall the sims 2 today and it got to 99% and froze, then i did it again and it froze at 65%.

Im guessing this is because someone unistalled a very important program!!!

I have tried to do system restore but it will only go a month back and I have had to take stuff off this computer such as motorola applications, IPOD applications and so forth and do not feel like going back and uninstalling these again.Does anyone else have any solutions????

  1. go to control panel and click on add/remove programs. it is an easy way to,well, add/remove programs. remove as many programs as possible (the ones you don't really use) to free up disk space, then maybe it will install. i hope this helps.

p.s. you will need some of the c-d roms to UNinstall progams (just for a heads up)

  2. sounds tough. I would try downloading the game. it may be a scratched cd. have you tried any other disks to see if your drive may be faulty instead?

if you legally own a game, downloading it off the internet is in no way illegal.

so if you don;t know about torrents, read up about it

    http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/showthread.p...

there are other tutorial sites for torrenting just google them

once in the know how, go to

    www.isohunt.com

and search for your sim game,

download it, may take a few hours, or even a day but it is worth it if there is no other way to get it to work, let alone reformatting your hard drive.

once you find it on isohunt, download the torrent, open the torrent in a program such as Utorrent (free) or Vuze(also free) and once it downloads open it and install it. it may come as a .ISO file

if thats the case simply download and install alcohol 120 or another "iso mounting program"

good luck it may sound cmplicated but it is really not

just search online for tutorials on anything you don;t know how to do..

    its all out there!

  3. Well, you should first of all delete any of this c**p that's been downloaded that isn't needed, unless you know it 'belongs' to someone. Then, you should get yourself a very good virus/spyware checking program, and run that. Then, you should make sure your system still meets all the requirements on the box.

If it still doesn't work, ask again.
