I recently replaced my old boxy monitor because there was a mark about the size of my fist that suddenly showed up one day.. I replaced it with a new flat screen and there is STILL a mark there, only alot smaller.. now the size of a nickel, wtf? It looks like a smudge- not a pixel, and not a perfect sicle- a smudge. What is the problem? Please help me.

I can see through the spot, if this helps you diagnose?

  1. I would buy screen wipes. see if that works.

  2. perhaps the connection between the lead on your monitor cable and pc has dirt in/ damaged? and i know things like microwaves etc can cause weird things to happen to pc monitors...make sure nothing like that's near it....

  3. First clean your glasses.

My next guess would be a problem with the video on the computer.  Update the video drivers and see if that helps.  If not, consider buying a new video card.  You can get a reasonably priced one for under $75.  There are easy to replace.  Open the computer, remove a s***w, remove old board, plug in new one, replace s***w, close computer.

  4. Do you have any magnets that get too close to it?

    Like speakers?

If your monitor has an option to Degauss, try it.

  5. Sounds like something is interfering. Could be something magnetic, try moving things and make space around the monitor. Clean it maybe or return it and get another one.  If noting works, I would suggest moving your pc in another part of the house.

It could be your speakers too, especially if they are old ones. Replace those then. If nothing I mentioned works, then I don't know what else to do..... just coop with it.
