I am having a problem transferring recorded media from RW DVDs to hard drive, to the extent that the machine will slow right down or, sometimes restart itself. The machine uses AMD 939 3200+ processor and 2 gig of ram, Nvidia GA-K8 NF-9 ser. 1 Motherboard, XP SP2 home ed. with all the updates.I have recently added the 2nd gig of ram hoping that it will help resolve the problem, but there is little if any difference, so, I am considering upgrading to a 64 bit operating system, (Vista premium 64 bit), as it seems to me that I am only using half of my available processing power by using a 32 bit OS.This upgrade appears to be quite expensive, as I believe that I would have to install Vista then upgrade to Vista 64, or buy the full retail product, which is at present a lot of money. This could be put to better use in other ways.I would appreciate some advice as to whether this upgrade would resolve my problem, or get some way towards it, or, would it be a waste of money?I have never considered this machine to be fast, not as fast as my last machine with a 1-gig processor and 512 Meg of ram; I suspect that is why one motherboard cost more than another. Thanks for any advice,Steve
