The computer hardrive is making a loud humming noise and its getting worse. Everything else works perfectly fine.I think it's the cooling fan at the back. Would replacing the fan solve the problem and is it simple enough to do it by myself.

  1. Probably the fan, yeh...might just need a clean! Open her up...well turn it off first...and have a looksie. Get it sorted asap because without a decent fan your computer could overheat and...boom. Asplode.

  2. All computer do tht and yea it's the cooling fan but it is fine.

  3. Well it may not need replacing, your computer may just be running hot. When it does, the fan usually kicks it up a notch and is noisier than usual. Just try getting the computer to a more ventilated position.

  4. your computer could be clogged with dust and needs to be cleaned out. Computer will over heat and die if you dont do it soon!!

  5. that means there are probably more than 1 program running and it makes the computer run more things through the system so thats why its making that noise.

  6. Cooling fan. Is your AC on? The room may be to hot as well.

  7. It's probably just the fan, try hitting it on the top near the fan really hard. No I'm not joking this does actually work.

  8. If it's the cooling fan for the power supply, then just replace the power supply - four screws & plug in cables.

If it's the fan on the processor heatsink, then get a new heatsink & fan for your CPU - just unclip & unplug it and replace.

  9. If it is the cooling fan, it is not the hard-drive itself. And again if it is the cooling fan I would strongly suggest removing and replacing it with a new one. The reason for this is obvious, if the cooling fan fails and your computer is on for a prolonged period of time you will eventually melt and damage interior components. Replacing the cooling fan should be fairly straight-forward, depending on the desktop computer you have and the fan make/model.

    Hope this helped.

  10. I think this is normal, it is just cooling down. Turn off the computer if you want it to stop and re-start it.

  11. have you tried cleaning it out?

  12. i got the same problem...it's when you open too many windows and the comuter gets over-heated..

gets worse when you put a cd in or even go youtube...

  13. I had the same problem and at was my fan vibrating try to tighten the screws first then if that don't work try to make a spacer out of a soda case cut the cardboard out so the fan can pull in air and place it between the fan and the tower if that don't work you might have a bad fan and they are real cheep ant any place that sells computers
