  1. Blue screen can also be due a hardware problem.

Did you install any new hardware ?

    If yes, remove it.

Is your CPU fan working ?

If not, the CPU  will over heat and system automatically shut down.

It could also be a motherboard problem.

You need to return the PC for repair if the warranty is good.

  2. Vista - where are you now. Don't you know that Vista is a bad joke?

I unzipped a 1.8GB zip file on my friend's computer with Vista, it took 17 minutes!!!! incredible!!! 421 files (documents and pictures mostly).

He still had XP, so we restarted and did it again - with XP it took a little over 5 minutes. The 'WOW' starts with XP it seems.

Later, I installed Ubuntu and gave him dualboot Vista/Ubuntu.

With Ubuntu it took 12 seconds to unzip, and show the thumnailed versions of the files on his desktop.

    The WOW ends here.

  3. Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This  problem can be solved by uninstalling new software, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info
