So, i built my computer yesterday (XP home, Q6600, 320 WD, 2 Gb Corsiar ram, 3870 OC). So all was going fine when today i decided to connect to the internet. I was going to use my wireless pci adapter, but i couldn't find the install cd, so that was out of the question. My internet works so thats not the problem, i have comcast hooked up to a linksys router, which is then broadcasting to 4 laptops. but when i hardwire my new computer to my router nothing happens. any helps?

  1. i think u have to have software to install to your computer too with my computer i built i had to use my DSL Verizon software that came with my wireless router. I had to install that before i could connect maybe that is what u have to do but i am not sure with your comcast internet.

  2. I am not sure but this may just help you as it happened to me in my case!!!

Try specifying the MAC Address of your ethernet card for the new computer in your router in the list of allowed devices. This may be possible that all devices (your other four laptops) with their specified MAC Address are only allowed access through the router for security. Since the new device's MAC address is not in router list, router may be denying access.

I will be curious to know if this solves your problem

    Give it a try!!!
