ok so i hooked a 2nd computer up to my broadband connection but i'm having some problems. my router picks up that its connected to it as the light for the #2 port on the router is lit up. and on the computer the 2 lights on the NIC card are lit up so that tells me its working. but the real problem is with the computer, i cant seem to find the Lan/broadband connection icon so i can connect. i go to start then to connect to, then show connections....and nothing...theres nothing there...i really need some help, oh by the way im running XP.

  1. check your firewall settings

  2. You should start by going to Device Manager to make sure that the correct NIC driver is installed and that the WinXP thinks the device is working correctly (no yellow question mark).

If that's all normal, you might also look for an updated driver to install.  Even if there's no updated driver, a re-install of the current driver might help.  (Hey, it's Windows, right?!!)
