Computer not reading My Book 500 GB?

It's all plugged in and the green circle is on but my computer is picking it up also i think i hear a clicking noise inside ... can anyone help ?

My PC is an HP and i have windows XP, i the Mybook connected before and it worked fine but i haven't used it in months now theres a problem.

  1. This is a problem related to your USB slot. If you can hear clicking noises, then your USB port is not providing enough power so that the hard disk can power up completely. I would suggest you go in for a powered USB hub, which will help you with this problem.
