Computer not recognizing bland dvdr discs?

i have a super-writemaster sh-s182 dvd-ram drive. i am able to read and burn cds. it also reads dvdr discs that already have stuff on it. but it wont recognize a blank dvdr disc. i am trying to burn a home movie to it. why is it doing this

  1. you sure it writes both cdr and dvdr? also you could try using a burn program like nero or something of the like, or maybe it needs a driver.


  2. there are two types of DVD's.  DVD+R and DVD-R.  Make sure you have the right type.

  3. DVD-RAM is an IDE model, the same as mine,but i can burn DVD-R goto..

    (bios settings)

    1 integrated peripherals

    2 IDE device config

    3 SATA controller mode > set to IDE
