  3. Hello

(ANS) Please take a look at DELL's entry level laptops they start at (cheapest) £329 ex Vat and include a wireless adapter if my memory serves me.

    SEE:- http://www.dell.com

**The problem with second hand laptops is whilst the price may be right in terms of your own budget. Unless you have a very good technical knowledge its hard to say how good a quality of machine you will end up with, nor whats been done to the machine in question nor how its been treated.

**Any machine you buy now a days with Windows XP "MUST include" service pack 2 or above. Otherwise some software wont install or work with XP.

**A second hand laptop may or may not include a WiFi adapter? you will need to check this out. Although some laptops can have WiFi easily added on later using a Card Bus style or PCMCIA adapter such as those made by NetGear, etc.

**Certainly you should be able to buy a new XP or Vista based machine for < £500 and a low specification or entry level laptop or notebook for around £350 - £400's.

**Personally I wouldn't go for a machine with Vista but that's because I think windows XP SP2 or SP3 is a much better version of the operating system. Vista is overly fussy, overly complex and ironing out all the software compatibility issues can be a pain frankly. But XP in contrast has a good & reliable track record and there are few compatibility issues any more & a wide range of software to match XP.

  6. My laptop is a compaq. It was bought from curry's some 4 years ago. it is wifi and has a 6 in 1 digital media reader. I cant remember the exact price I paid as I had it on finance. Something like £600+. It was on monthly payments of £34 out my bank.

The first and second links are a second hand one I found, it isnt like mine as mine is silver. I dont know if its still for sale and I dont know if you live UK. The third is a new laptop with wifi built in.

  7. Unfortunately a lot of Computer Shops that did repairs and sold second hand have gone out of business as its now actually cheaper to get what you want from the bigger stores at prices we couldn't compare with but if you want to listen to the ins and outs from friendly souls go to your nearest independent shop who can't compete price wise. You can also get reconditioned,if I'm honest, from the big stores.

  8. I would recommend the Asus EeePC; they can be purchased brand new at Target for $299. It is a small computer that may not be comfortable for your hands for long periods, but they have been a big hit. They are also available in many different configurations and colors. For the money, they can't be beat.
