Computer pop up virus or worm or something help me dont know wat it is

Question

I got a 2400 dell computer i was on a chat clicked on a linked and a pop up came up cover the whole screen. Screen turned foggy like smoky or fading away could of hardly see background and i heard a crack then it had a crack on my screen i was scared so i turned it off i put it back on like 20min later and there was no crack on the screen computer looked normal but i didnt check it out yet i just shut it back down again scared silly me if anyones knows what is this please even if it is good new or bad news use link if u got info or name of ur source so i can find more info on what is goin with computer and how i can fix it THX:) PLZ REPLY PPL

well i did not read it but my best advis eis that you go sue your inetrnet virus secruity scanner and scan your computer for anything and remove it but if its norton internet secruity or 360 scan but then i would recomend a free one windows live onecare search it on google ''windows live onecare safty scanner'' it aint the best but it also tuens up your comp and cheak for open ports and help you alot

It sounds like someone played a prank on you.  I hope that was the only effect.  That could just as easily have been a virus.

Firstly, antivirus programs will NOT pick these up as they are malicious codecs.

Secondly, turn your computer on and download the following free fixes:

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

Download, install, update and select Full Scan.

Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

Spybot S&D:

Download, install, update and Immunize, then click 'Check for problems' then when complete select all and then 'Fix Checked'

Wallpaper Hijacker Removal Tool:

Note: You should hit all "Repair" buttons even though it may not say "Found!" This will fix a wallpaper hijack everytime if all repair buttons are pressed.
