Computer problem !- virus, spy ware or ad ware etc ?

Question

i have a problem with my computer, when ever i search & click on the entry i want a symbol appears, like this-

Z;

& then it takes me to a different site ( usually unrelated but in someway trying to sell me something !)

what is it & how can i try to remove it so my computer functions normally again ? i have tried AVG, super antispyware & spybot.

please help me, thanks,
