Question:

Computer processors?????

I was told that intel was one of the leading computer processors but what about amd. How do they compare?

  1. Depends on which processor you are refering to. IMO its almost as good for less money.

Honestly in every day use it is near impossible to tell between AMD, Intel and sometimes even VIA's C3 class of processors.  I know this because I have 'tricked" a lot of the folks at work who think they can impress me by tossing around a few phrases they heard or read somewhere.  I've replaced motherboards/processors on them and they claim they can tell the difference and use the system for awhile before I let em know what happened.  One guy in particular was ALL about intel and kept going on and on about how intel systems never went out etc etc...a week or so later his hard drive went bad and swapped it out with an amd system.

    As far as AMD goes, their products are fine.  I use AMD, Intel and VIA based systems at work and they are all good.  You can usually get a little more bang for your buck with AMD though.  The VIA c3 processors we only use in our point of sale systems, theyre not quite as beefy as amd and intel.  With enough ram any via system can hold it's own for the most part.  Dont buy into all the marketing hype though, it's just hype
