  1. If you have lost or forgetten the XP administrator password, first reboot Windows XP in safe mode by re-starting the computer and pressing F8 repeated as the computer starts up. Then (in safe mode) click Start and then click Run. In the open box type "control userpasswords2" without the quotes.

You will now have access to all the user accounts, including the administrators account and will be able to reset the lost password.

Just click the administrators user account, and then click Reset Password.

You will need to add a new password in the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and confirm by clicking OK.

All done, you have recovered the lost administrators password!

  2. administrator passowrd for what??

  3. Finding or resetting an unknown administrator password is a hacking operation; that's what, you won't find any official help for that. Unofficially, if you enable e-mail, you could get some... Good luck!

  4. The adminstration password to log into windows right? As far as I know there is no way to retrieve it, you have to reinstall windows again. You will lose everything you saved on your computer, but you'll still have your internet service. You don't have to call the company, as long as you're still paying

  5. Unfortunately, yes, restoring your vista will make you lose all data and any applications and settings you have.  It will take you back to "as delivered".

The hope is that you have your data backed up.  If not, and you don't want to lose everything, you can take the hard drive out of your computer, put it in an external enclosure, hook it up to another computer, and retrieve your data.  Then put it back and go on with the restore.

Or, you could get an external hard drive and a standalone image generator like acronis true image 11 home.  Clone your drive to the external.  Now wipe your computer's drive and restore the system.  Reinstall your applications.  Then recover your data from the cloned copy.

As to reinstalling the internet, it depends what you mean.  The internet connection should be fine, but you'll have to reinstall any utilities from your provider that you use.
