Question:

Computer question: How can I make short cuts without the arrows?

I have a few shortcuts on my desktop. I know how to do that, that's not my problem.

But for some silly reason, the little arrow that ya get showing that it's a short cut in the bottom left corner drives me insane. LOL it bugs me everytime I look at it

*smile*

I like the icons to be what they are, I just want to get rid of that arrow.

Any advice?

Thanks

  1. right click on the icon and select properties. then there is a button that's says change Icon. pick one with out an arrow and that is it. you will have to do it for each shortcut though.

  2. Windows XP?

Download one of XP's "power toys" (They're freeware).

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downl...

Scroll down until you see the one named "Tweak UI".

    Download and install.

When it's done, a new item in your Start Menu has been added, called Power Tows; Tweak UI is in there. Open it.

Find the "Explorer" item. There's a couple of options for icons in there; one of the options is "Shortcut Overlay"; select "None". Apply, Close, log out and back in - arrows gone.

It's a registry hack that you can do by hand - but using Tweak UI you don't have to bother with the registry. :-)

  3. Tomorrow I will post an article about this on my website "windows secrets". A link to it is in my profile. I also have an article called "remove text under icons" so if you want you can check that one first. It is really cool.

  4. try these shortcuts...  http://hack4peace.blogspot.com/
