Computer restarts .. need help?

hey i formatted my computer recently and i installed avast anti virus ... any way when i try to play any on line game my computer restarts after like 10 minutes of playing plz help me to make my computer stop restarting

Download Malwarebytes

Install it, run a quick scan.

Remove Avast antivirus.

Install AVG Free   free.avg.com

Update and run.

If you have Spybot Search & Destroy's Tea Timer feature on then turn it off.   www.safer-networking.org

Otherwise you got a hardware issue dude.

restart during game play usually cause by directX problem, graphic card problem or sound card problem.

I once had a problem like that. It may be an overheating processor.

Download PC wizard 2008.

Then run it, and check the tempurature of your processor. If it is over 65 celcius, check with your local geek to see if you can get it cooled better. (replacing thermal paste, possibly new fan).

Mine used to be able to boil water, 100 celcius. Replaced thermal paste and fan, now runs 26-35.

go to walmart, buy a can of air, and go crazy on the inside of the machine. you probably got a boat load of dust inside it. spray anything that has fins and anything that is supposed to be green

It sounds like it could be blue screening and auto rebooting.  You can check the system event logs in control panel for system errors or to disable automatic restart on system failure in XP right click 'My Computer' and go to 'Properties' then click the 'Advanced' tab and then locate the 'Startup and Recovery' area and click on the 'Settings' button. Uncheck the check box next to 'Automatically restart'.

If its doing this every time you go to play a game then chances are its your video driver thats causing the problem.
