Computer science vs. computer engineering. HELP!?

i'll start college in the fall. i am undeclared for my major. but i really like working with computer. which one is better? computer science or computer engineering? can you tell me whats the difference between the two and what each major deals with? which one is harder?

  1. from what I understand, computer science is mostly programming software whereas computer engineering deals with hardware, machine programming, etc. Computer engineering is much harder but will most likely land you a good stable job with good money. In computer science, it is in some ways easier but keep in mind that unless you plan to study new programming languages all your life, you will very quickly become outdated and give companies more reason not to hire you. if you are more of a hardware kinda person with a solid understanding of electrical and especially mathematical concepts then computer engineering is what you're looking for. also, as others have said, it never hurts to talk to profs and other people working in the field.

  3. dont decide on a major based on what others tell you online.

    use your first year to explore the two majors... see them hands-on. meet professors, and find out exactly what people do with that degree. also find out if you'll need a graduate degree to get what you want. (M.S. is almost mandatory now)..

    after you know all that.. then decide
