Computer speakers/ home surround sound?

Is there a way to hook up speakers to my computer so I can listen to my music throughout my home without being at the computer?

You can buy a Media Center Extender for any sound systems you would want to listen to music on, but this requires a TV also. You could also use an Xbox 360 for this. As others have said, you can also get wireless speakers or wireless headphones. Linksys also makes a media extender for just audio that plugs into your stereo.

You can buy wireless speakers but they are a bit costly considering that you would probably need at least six

( three pairs ) to cover your entire home. I've never used them, but I would imagine that you would probably want all of them

to be the same brand. I don't know any specifics on how they work so you might want to ask someone if you can run more than two of them off of the same antenna before you buy them.

Well get an adapter: 3.5 mm stereo plug to dual RCA jacks and a dual RCA plug cable with plugs on each end. Plug the adapter into the computer sound card jack, (line output) on the back of the computer. Plug the RCA plug cables into the adapter and the other ends into the, line input or AUX input, of your stereo.

Turn up the volume on your stereo  until you can hear it through out the house.

Or you can just get a wireless FM adapter that plugs into your computer sound card headphone output jack turn your stereo to the FM wireless frequency down at the bottom of the FM band and viola' computer sound anyplace you have a FM stereo like a boom box.

Yes, just pick up a pair of wireless speakers.  They are available at most stores, and tend to have a range of about 100 feet.
