  1. all $20 will get you is a pair of speakers max.  i spent $50 for a subwoofer and 4 speaker combo which i bought at target and am very happy with.

if 20 is your max limit then i hope youre good at seaching ebay and garadge sales cuz youre not gonna find any thing that cheap new.

as for thinking $20 is ridiculess... sorry bud, audio equipment is expensive, believe me ive tried the cheap stuff, its really disappointing (and embarassing if showing off to friends)

  2. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but $20 will get you almost nothing. All the decent computer speakers that I've seen and auditioned cost way more than that.

  3. I've seen some cheapo speakers that cost around $10~$20, but they tend to be worse than even the speakers bundled with most computers

If you spend about $50 (which you would for anything midrange), you might be able to get a nice looking set of computer speaker that produce decent sound

Average computer speaker sets have just 2 speakers, and some come with a subwoofer, but if you want anything high end (i'm talking creative brand surround sound computer speakers), you are talking in the $100's (this is what I did), first, the speakers cost around $99ish (could find them for around $80 perhaps), but if you connect it to a normal sound card, you will only be able to connect the green speaker line, which only does 2.1 (2 speakers and subwoofer), you need to get a "Creative Sound Blaster ZS Gamer Edition" sound card, and that may run you around $50 or more, but it includes games that utilize the surround sound feature for free, and i think that was around 5 or 7 games in the package, I think the Gamer Edition was a limited edition though, so I think they stopped selling it, but the average model is still being sold, and is a pretty nice sound card, but in the end, you end up paying $150ish, but with the free games and great surround sound, it's sure worth it
