Computer virus! I have no idea what to do!!?

Alright, so the other day I was on Limewire looking to download a movie. Yes yes, sue me. :P I downloaded what I thought was Moulin Rouge.

Anyways, my laptop now has a virus. (I'm on my computer right now) Whenever I open up internet explorer it goes to various websites. Sometimes the websites promote false virus protectors, I'm guessing, however, when I download the program it's another virus. And sometimes it's a pop up with a voice saying, "Congratulations! You have won..." So yeah. We downloaded Windows Live Care and they got rid of a few viruses, but we still have the same problem. They haven't detected the problem.

And I've gotten rid of the 'movie' I downloaded.

Any suggestions?! Any help?!

Reboot your laptop if it came with a rebooting disc, or reboot it with a different operating system( ask a retailer)

Do not try system restore.Try AVG 8.0.Just go to http://free.avg.com/ it will get rid of all the viruses that you have.

Go to AVG at the first link below, and download the FREE program.  I've found AVG to be very good, though the free version provides limited protection.  Or, search for "free virus protection" to choose another program.

Using System Restore will NOT remove malware.  It does NOT delete files; it only changes settings.  If you are unable to remove the virus you may need to reinstall your operating system.  This will wipe out all information, programs and settings, though, and you will have to reinstall everything.

I also find CCleaner very good for clearing out temporary files, cookies, and other left over garbage.  But for a truly clean computer the program Eraser prints over deleted files and photos, so no one can use file recovery programs to retrieve them.  See 2nd and 3rd links below.
