Computer virus what can I do

Question

my computer has started telling me it is infected and loading loads and loads of antivirus links. It won't let me start it in safe mode either. I don't seem to be able to do anything. What can I do?

Unless you have the means, time, patience, and technical know-how, then pay someone £30 to fix it.  With a situation like yours it sounds like you'd need a spare hard drive with a full install and up to date anti-virus software on it, do you have that?

Download, install and run a full scan with Malwarebytes

Then see if you can reboot to safemode, and run another scan with Malwarebytes.

It´s better if you take the computer to a shop so they sort it out for you...i´t´s going to be difficult,and you should know what you are touching,otherwise you can make it even worse.

These are usually caused by malicious codecs that antivirus programs do NOT remove. Use the following fixes:

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

Download, install, update and select Quick Scan.

Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

Spybot S&D:

Download, install, update and Immunize, then click 'Check for problems' then when complete select all and then 'Fix Checked'

Malwarebytes has a very high success rate in dealing with these issues.

i say do system restor , use RegCure, AVG, Spybot, Adaware which are the top 4 programs u can google search them and get all of the programs u need im actauly having the exact same problem at this exact same moment andwith this software it aloud me 2 get on my pc run make scans and do something  if that dosent work out system reboot is always a answer

i've been having real problems too and am not very clued up.  It would be easier to pay someone who knows how to sort it, up-date it and protect it more securely for you.  

I have spent 3 days trying to sort mine out - its working now but i've set something wrong as its pestering me with alerts all the time now!!

Here's what you could try first (before you take it to someone):

do each and every full test in your security package.

scan each and every file manually by right clicking and selecting scan (do this as well as other tests because my security failed to pick up a back door trojan just by usual tests).

Delete any new programmes you installed dating back to when your computer was last okay (including any files, also do a search on your system for key words relating to any new files so it brings them all up for you to delete, i found after using limewire, had many hidden files that were infected but found them this way).

Reset all security settings on tool options to default

scan again each and every file.

Then if you are still getting quirky behaviour, contact your security people for help.  They analyse your system and give downloads to patch things up.

Best of luck trying these things and if it doesn't sort it - seek pro help!

you are able to get on here so download avg anti virus program and run it its free and very good! If you cant get your drive up then its got to be a pro job to fix.

If you can not get into safe mode then you will have issues trying to fix it.  

If you are good with computers, try going into MSconfig, and disabling everything from your startup that is not necessary.  Once you restart try going to one of the on-line anti-virus scanners (Trend Micro) and see if that can clean out the probelms.

Your last resort is a Re-Format reload everything approach (I hope you have backups)
