Computer won't acknowledge pictures on SD card?

Out of no where I'm unable to upload pictures from my camera/SD card. I have a Fujifilm FinePix J10 and a PNY 2 gig SD card. When I connect my camera via USB to upload pics either my computer shows me that I only have 2 pictures (which I'm guessing are the ones I have saved on the camera itself) when I really have 200+ or if I put my SD card directly in my computer it shows that it is completely empty. I really want to be able to upload these pics , so any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you. =]

  1. When viewing the photos in the camera, are you able to zoom in to see detail close-up?

Sometimes, the images you see on the camera are only low-res previews.

If it appears that the photos are there, or aren't there, it is possible your card's file directory is screwed up.

go to http://www.datarescue.com, and download their PhotoRescue demo. Plug the card into a cardreader and then run the demo to determine if there are any recoverable files.

  2. First, I would restart my computer and see if this resolves the problem.  Then I would start by verifying the batteries are fully charged and cables ar secured.  If you have a memory stick reader I would try this too.  If the SD card is good which it sounds like it is, then you should be able to access them using the card reader and Windows.

  3. check that the settings on the camera haven't changed. it may be set to connect as a web camera. also, you may have set it to take photos in RAW mode.
